REIKI is an energy and Spiritual Healing technique based on one of the Buddhist offsprings of Qigong with added Japanese Shintoist elements.

Near the end of the 19th century it was rediscovered by Sensei Mikao Usui in Japan. He named it REIKI. Often this is translated into "Universal Life Energy". The history of his life is clouded by stories and mystery (which  are different in the East and in the West). We don't really have much proven information about his life.

Sensei Usui was born in August of 1865 and died in March 1926. He founded the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai in Tokyo, an organization that is still in existence today.

• Reiki is practiced mostly with hands-on techniques, working over the body of the client, front and back.
• It can also be sent by a Distant Healing Method or done off the body entirely, working in the aura of the client.
• The Reiki practitioner uses the method for her own process of spiritual growth and health on her/himself.
• Reiki is passed from teacher to student by an Attunement process, a ritual in which the Reiki energy is passed on and stays with the new practitioner, independent of their teacher.
• All people can learn Reiki easily and start using it, from which the real learning comes.
• Reiki is gentle, yet also powerful and can bring about great life changes, greater awareness of oneself and increased energy and well being.

Polarity was created and taught by Dr. Randolf Stone, DC, DO, ND, in the early 1950s. Dr. Stone held degrees in Naturopathy, Osteopathy, Chiropractic and was also a lifelong seeker of spiritual learning and ancient wisdom. He was very close to nature and for years spent much of his time out in the wilderness by himself.

Throughout his life, he traveled extensively and studied Meditation, Ayurvedic Healing, Yoga, Acupuncture and also in Europe the Hermetic Philosophy, Naturopathy and Homeopathy. He called the synthesis of these different healing modalities POLARITY THERAPY.

Dr. Stone retired to India in 1973 to the ashram of his spiritual master at the high age of 83 years. He still treated people, especially the ones who were considered hopeless cases or those who had given up on the medical establishment. Until his passing in 1981 at the age of 91 he practiced polarity Yoga. A comprehensive excercise and stretching system. Designed to activate and balance the body.

There are pictures of Dr. Stone at an advanced age still doing the position of the "Squat" and other quite strong physical Polarity Yoga positions.

• The Polarity Practitioner facilitates balancing of the clients system with hands-on techniques, teaching exercises, verbal counseling, and nutrition.
• The sessions are process oriented and act on all levels: body, mind and spirit.
• The practitioner's job is to offer a safe space of healing for the client so they may reach a deeper awareness of themselves and their life's path in balance and well-being.

I have owned animals since many years and always used the Healing Techniques I have learned on people as well as animals, when they are hurt or in need.

More then 10 years ago, I got back into horseback riding, which was one of my greatest joys as a child. My dream of owning my own horse became reality, when I bought a very special, dapple gray and also very pregnant Spanish/Portuguese Andalusian mare.

Riding in a school barn, horses getting can get hurt, and I discovered: by doing Reiki on them immediately, they recovered much faster. When people saw the success of my work, they asked me to come to work with similar situations also in other barns. So I got my first animal customers.

An older Palomino gelding stabled at my friend Susan's barn, got intense collick's a few weeks ago; we had extreme weather changes of warm and bitter cold weather. He was on IV fluids and his owner was sitting with him in his stall. Since he did not really know me, I just stood there next to them, opening my hands towards him to let the Reiki Healing Energy flow to him without touching and I internally introduced myself and told him what I was going to do. After awhile, he felt more relaxed and with the owners permission, I started to work mainly on his spine and tummy. I heard some gurgling sounds. After about an hour I had to leave and I got a report back, that afterwards he started being able to pass gas and manure again.

The next time, he was not doing well his owner asked if I could do another session on him, but I could not go that time and decided to send Reiki with the Distance method. And even though I had only time for about 10 minutes, the report from the barn came again, that he perked up just after that time.

I worked one more time on him physically and again, he let me work a long time. He had gone to the ground because of the severity of his pain and I was really worried about him. Later he stood up and I worked on the top of his head, between his ears and he started lowering his head and fell asleep standing there next to me (big smiles!). After a while he woke up, kicked out a leg and let me know he was done. Again he got much better after this treatment and a few days later he was his old self again, except feeling totally starved. So much so, he emptied my friends garbage can, spilling it all over the barn yard. It was very funny and luckily she caught him while doing it and he did not actually get to eat any of it.

Rules to observe when you work on animals:

• You have to be aware of their body and body language at all times.
• Animals are often "done" much faster than people. They need less time of you working on them.
• They will clearly and immediately let you know what they like and what not.
• Animals are more sensitve than people, their senses are stronger developed.
• Listen to your intuition and Inner-voice to get feedback about how they are doing.
• Get a good book on holistic health care for animals with skeletal charts.
• Wear good, strong shoes and sensible work clothes.
• Get yourself into a centered and balanced state before you start treating.
• Let the owner give you space and stand back.

For the greatest benefit, I recommend a series of sessions, beginning with weekly sessions, then followed by sessions every two or three weeks and later monthly for prevention and maintenance.
